Kitchen order tickets from the same till that bills

Tapvixo prints a KOT the moment an order is punched, so the kitchen starts while the bill is still open. Items added later go out on a new KOT with only what's new, and a cancelled item prints a cancellation slip and is recorded with who cancelled it and why.

What it does

  • KOTs print first, before the bill, and keep printing when the internet is down
  • Item notes and options, such as "less spicy" or an extra topping, print on the KOT
  • Items added to a running order go out on a new KOT with only what's new, and paying sends anything not sent yet
  • Taking back an item the kitchen already has needs a reason and prints a cancellation slip
  • Moving or merging tables prints a slip for the kitchen
  • Dine-in, takeaway and delivery from the same screen
  • KOT printing is switched on for each outlet that has a kitchen

Every cancelled KOT is on record

A cancelled KOT after the food went out is one of the most common ways stock and cash leak. Each cancellation keeps its reason and the person who made it, and the owner sees them all in the till controls report, next to cancelled bills, refunds and hand discounts. More on till controls.

What it doesn't do yet

  • KOTs print on the till's own printer, the same one as the bill. There is no separate kitchen or bar printer and no routing of items to different stations
  • There is no kitchen display screen
  • There is no captain or waiter app: orders are punched at the till
  • KOT numbers start again at 1 each day on each till, and there is no token display screen

Questions

Can one printer print both the KOT and the bill?

Yes, and today that is how it works: the KOT and the receipt come out of the same printer, and the KOT is torn off for the kitchen.

Which printer do I need?

A thermal receipt printer. From Chrome on an Android phone or tablet, or on a computer, Tapvixo prints to a Bluetooth printer directly; any other printer works through the print dialog. Bluetooth printing does not work on iPhone or iPad. Receipts can be 58 mm or 80 mm wide.
